The driver's education course at Northeast Driving School is a 40-hour course consisting of 30 hours in the classroom and 10 hours of behind-the-wheel driving. Students will also take a written exam on the final day of the course. Completion of all 40 hours and a passing grade on the written test will allow students to obtain their State of Maine driving permit.
At Northeast, we understand that your schedule may be busy. That's why we're proud to offer courses at a variety of times to accommodate your life. While classroom hours are at specifically scheduled times, driving hours will be completed according to each student's individual schedule.
You can select from different course schedules including:
Our goal is to have all students excel in the course, pass their written exam and complete the 40 hours within 5-6 weeks. We understand, however, that each student is unique, and we work hard to adapt to each student's pace of learning the skills and concepts that are important to being a good driver. It is best when the classroom education is integrated with behind-the-wheel training. Students should be expected to drive 1-3 hours per week after the initial curriculum requirement is met.
Applicants must be 15 years old at the beginning of the first class (State Law). The total for the course is $500 and a non-refundable $100 deposit is required to hold your place in class. Tuition should be paid in full by the first class in the course. We do offer one payment plan (see Student Driver Course Policies). With Online Registration, we accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. If mailing a check or money order, send to 360 Harlow St., Bangor, ME 04401.
